Child Abuse Cases in an Hispanic Community: A Teaching Tool.

Each year thousands of children, of all ages and ethnic and economic backgrounds, are victims of sexual and physical abuse. This case book, intended for use in the training of social workers and prevention-focused program staff, parents, providers, adolescents, and others, consists of 16 cases of child abuse in Hispanic communities. The cases are drawn from the following settings: (1) schools; (2) hospitals; (3) courts; and (4) social service agencies. Each case presents its own set of issues and problems. Each cases is accompanied by a set of questions to guide discussions or enhance lectures. This case book is intended for educational purposes only, and should be used in conjunction with examples from other communities; it does not purport to represent the incidence or prevalence of child abuse in the Hispanic community.
