Ethics in Academia.
Kunkel, H. O.
The definition and role of ethics in higher education in agriculture are discussed. The ethical dimensions of recent events in agricultural education and agricultural science are discussed, including the ethics implicit in federal regulations and court decisions, changes in the backgrounds, experiences and values of students choosing agriculture, changes in the demographics of agriculture, and the implications of these changes for the land grant college system. The traditional differences between undergraduate and graduate agricultural programs are discussed, and the need is stressed for the development of graduate programs in agricultural occupations, rather than solely in research. It is also suggested that training in ethics is needed for agricultural students. (KM)
