A description is provided of Florida Community College at Jacksonville's institutional assessment process. Part I explains the role of institutional assessment in a cycle of planning, research, and marketing, and establishes the scope, purposes, and uses of the assessment. Part II presents an overview of the three phases of the assessment process: (1) an annual review of planning and marketing objectives and selected institutional and instructional program indicators; (2) scheduled in-depth reviews of all units and the preparation of reports on organizational strengths and weaknesses; and (3) reviews of such collegewide issues and concerns as funding, institutional policies, state policies, proposed legislation, and articulation agreements. Parts III and IV discuss the assessment procedures and evaluation criteria specific to instructional support services and instructional units. Appendixes list all of the assessment units at the college, enumerate the institutional indicators used as evaluation criteria, and define terms. (EJV)
