An Educator's Guide to the Literature Dealing with Teenage Suicide.
This report was written to provide educators with information on their role in dealing with the problem of adolescent suicide. A review of current literature was conducted to give educators accurate teenage suicide information, and an annotated bibliography of relevant citations from that review is included. Thirty entries are organized in the areas of suicidal facts and statistical information, causal factors, warning signs and suicidal cues, prevention and intervention, and the educator's role. A glossary of relevant terms is included. A summary of information obtained from the research and literature review follows the bibliography. Suicidal warning signs are summarized and examples of situational, behavioral, emotional, and verbal clues which may indicate suicidal ideation are listed. Recommendations for educators are given.
