This book presents information for parents who wish to help their children have successful, happy sport experiences. Section I presents five chapters on raising children to be athletes. Chapters discuss the role of parents of athletes, life as parents of an athelete, choosing the best sport experience, getting started and setting goals, and guiding the child to competitive success. Section II offers seven chapters discussing ways to guide children's early sport experiences, covering such areas as parents working with coaches, coaching children, systematic practice techniques, understanding and analyzing skills, preventing injuries, and the importance of nutrition. Section III presents three chapters that consider sport as a total experience, including discussion of organized youth sport, and benefits of sport participation.
