This document, which consists entirely of statistical tables, was prepared to provide some of the more important current information about the Philadelphia Public School System to the Board of Education, the Superintendent's office, school principals, and others. Information pertaining to each school in the district is provided. The book is divided into three main sections: (1) Overall Summary Section (tables displaying city and district staff and pupil data by level); (2) District School Summaries (displaying individual school data by district); and (3) Detached Early Childhood Centers (presenting data on the early childhood centers that are not administrated by a school principal). Factors selected for inclusion in this resource book are those considered to be the most indicative of the total school environment and of greatest concern to the educational community and to the community at large. They include: (1) pupil enrollment, broken down by race, grade retention, suspensions, participation in English as a second language programs, attendance, and withdrawals; (2) staff data, broken down by race and sex; (3) achievement data; and (4) graduate data. Appendices include a school district map of sub-district boundaries, data source information, a glossary of terms and computations, and an alphabetical index of schools covered. (KH)
