Continuing Education Program Analysis Guide.
Hale, Charles
This literature review on continuing education and on continuing education organizational structure begins with a discussion of the participants. Participant demographics, reasons for enrollment, and deterrents to participation are considered. The role of higher education in continuing education is described in terms of the role of the community college and the four-year college and university. A section on structuring continuing education covers curricular planning and assessment, curricular design and delivery, curricular areas and requirements, program finance (credit programs, noncredit programs, assessing productivity), program organization (administration, student matriculation, admissions, support services), evaluation, and accreditation. An appendix contains the program analysis guide based on the review of the literature. Sections of this assessment instrument pertain to documenting the support and necessity for a continuing education program, program finance and administration, academic governance, and evaluation (program, faculty, student).
