How To Plan a Conservation Education Program.
Wood, David S.; Wood, Diane Walton
Designed to provide assistance to natural resource managers in the preparation of conservation educator programs and materials, this manual describes specific procedures for developing programs that would have significant environmental impact. Five steps are identified and explained under separate chapter headings. Each chapter concludes with a series of questions that serve to assess that step before the next procedure is undertaken. These steps include: (1) assessing the environmental situation (identifying the technical solution); (2) identifying the audience (considering frequently targeted groups); (3) identifying the message (offering suggestions in planning the program and selecting the program's content); (4) selecting an educational strategy (reviewing commonly used strategies); and (5) evaluation (providing guidelines and identifying sources of information for evaluation).
