Wade, George H.; Nehrt, Roy C.
This report presents compiled data summaries concerning public elementary and secondary education for all 50 states and the District of Columbia for 1982-83 and 1983-84. Further, state profiles exhibit the rank of each state for selected variables. State Education Agency administrative reports and records based on data from local agencies provide the statistics for the document. In addition to information encompassing the general categories of institutional, pupil, staff, and finance data, the report includes selected data from the 1980 Census of Population and Housing for a contextual guide. The selected characteristics profiled include the number of school districts; the number of schools; enrollment; attendance; the number of high school graduates; staff employment data; school district revenues; current expenditures; the revenue per pupil in average daily attendance from local, intermediate, state, and federal sources; the current expenditure per pupil for instructional, noninstructional, and support services; the number of officials or administrators per 100 employees; and the number of classroom teachers per 100 employees.
