Maryland Community Colleges 1986 Program Evaluations.
Maryland State Board for Community Colleges, Annapolis.
As part of an annual statewide evaluation process, quantitative information on community college education is reviewed by the Maryland State Board for Community Colleges. Subsequently, in particular cases, a qualitative assessment is conducted by individual colleges in response to specific questions raised by the Board. This report provides the results of individual qualitative evaluations of 50 programs throughout the community college system, as well as the results of a statewide evaluation of legal assistant occupational programs. First, the legal assistant program evaluation is presented, including program descriptions, information on student trends and characteristics, program performance, results of college evaluations, and recommendations. The next section contains qualitative program evaluation reports for 50 programs identified as having specific problems (e.g., declining enrollment, low transfer performance, low job placement rates, high costs, inadequate student follow-up, or declining number of awards). Each evaluation report includes identifying information on the college, the program, and the level of award; responses to questions posed by the Board regarding such issues as factors accounting for the problem, graduate placement and employer follow-up, and program quality; actions planned by the college to remedy the problems; and Board recommendations concerning the program.
