This curriculum guide is designed to ensure student attainment of basic home economics content knowledges and skills that will provide a strong foundation for employment in the fashion industry. Competency/skill and task lists are followed by employability skills charts for the occupations of fashion coordinator and fabric coordinator; the charts are used to show a crosswalk between the skills and the curriculum guide. Numbers next to related basic skills, job skills, and responsibility skills are the competency or task numbers in the curriculum. Instructor guides provide information related to each specified task within the competency. The information includes competency/skill; task; performance objective and standard; student learning experiences; suggested instructional techniques; instructional equipment, materials, and supplies; and resources. The nine competencies/skills relate to clothing messages; garment design and fashion sketches; fashion designers; fashion trends and cycles; clothing manufacture and production; fashion coordinators; fabric coordinators; merchandising (buying and selling); and fashion displays, publicity, and advertising.
