The Office of Instructional Technology (OIT) of the South Carolina Department of Education is responsible for the acquisition, scheduling, and utilization of television and radio resources for grades K-12, staff development, adult education broadcast over the South Carolina educational television and radio network, and the administration of computer-assisted instruction (CAI) in public schools. This annual report reflects the record of OIT service during the 1985-86 school year. The following are included in the report: (1) the annual management plan identifying 61 major objectives for the year; (2) a description of the instructional technology advisory system, which is composed of 12 curriculum committees and a state advisory committee; (3) a list of OIT publications; (4) primary activities in the area of CAI; (5) descriptions of instructional television and radio series; (6) data on utilization of series by schools; (7) utilization trends; (8) data on staff development programs and utilization; (9) a list of educational conferences and workshops; (10) results of the 1986 statewide computer survey; and (11) plans for 1986-87.
