The updated version of a 1978 resource guide contains citations and annotations of print and non-print supplementary resources appropriate for Alberta's elementary and secondary program in French as a second language (FSL). The resources identified may be used for remediation, enrichment, and reinforcement of program content. The selection includes materials meeting the following criteria: are useful in a variety of FSL programs; have themes, vocabulary, expressions and activities appropriate to the age and level of language learning of the students; include content and activities that provide for the development of positive attitudes toward the French language and culture; depict aspects of French community life in Canada and other countries; are current, accurate, and free of bias; develop all language skills; are adaptable to a variety of teaching and learning styles; have an appealing physical format; and are reasonably priced, durable, and readily available. Items are presented in five categories: communication skills development, cultural learning resources, non-print learning resources, professional references, and general references. Each citation contains bibliographic information, price rating, quality rating, and recommended grade level(s). Publisher and distributor addresses are also included. (MSE)
