Planning for Change: Fall 1985 Enrollment Update.
Jones, Randall D.
This third report in the "Planning for Change" series presents an analysis of demographics and enrollments in the including profiles of full-time, mid-load, and light-load students. The first sections of the report offer information on LRCCD's "Planning for Change" report series and describe the district's outreach programs. The next section contains fall 1985 enrollment data, covering weekly student contact hours, day/evening attendance, credit load, ethnicity, age, and sex for the district as a whole. Next, student profiles are presented by unit load, indicating that: (1) light-load students comprised 43% of the fall 1985 student body, were the oldest of the three groups, and included a higher proportion of Whites and lower proportions of Asians, Blacks, and foreign students; (2) mid-load students made up 32% of the student body, had an average age of 26 years, attended primarily for transfer-related reasons, and had the lowest proportion of "undecided" majors on admission; and (3) full-time students comprised 25% of the student body, were least likely to hold college degrees upon admission, carried an average of 13.9 units, and primarily attended day classes only. Finally, the data's implications for planning and data for each LRCCD college are presented. (EJV)
