Improving Classroom Practice Using Innovation Profiles.

Innovation Profiles, detailed descriptions of what a teacher is actually doing as effective classroom practices are implemented, offer a logical and systematic way of making innovations work. The first section of this book identifies core decisions required in implementing and evaluating curriculum and instructional innovations in sections entitled: (1) Thinking about Changes in Classroom Practice; and (2) Implementing and Evaluating Changes in Classroom Instruction. The second section describes practical procedures for developing, validating, and using Innovation Profiles. Section headings are: (1) A Procedure for Developing Innovation Profiles; (2) Procedures for Ensuring the Content Validity of an Innovation Profile; and (3) Using Innovation Profiles. The third section presents the following case studies of Innovation Profile use: (1) Development of an Innovation Profile for the Evaluation of a Cooperative Education Program; (2) Decentralizing Profile Development in Muskoka; (3) The Innovation Profile Concept in Hastings County; (4) Principal Leadership of the Implementation of Intermediate Science; (5) Experiences in Developing a Profile for Primary and Junior Division Pedagogy; and (6) Evaluation of a Gifted/Enrichment Program.
