Special Needs Resources for Vocational Education.
Chase, Shirley A., Comp.; Gordon, Ruth, Comp.
This catalog is intended as a reference for vocational educators who serve special needs populations. It contains descriptions of two types of resources: (1) organizations that provide products or services for special needs populations; and (2) materials appropriate for special needs students. The first section, which is arranged alphabetically, includes descriptions of such diverse types of organizations as advocacy groups, clearinghouses, libraries, professional associations, research and development centers, and rehabilitation research and training centers. The following information is provided for each organization: name, director, contact person, address and phone number, type of organization, subject terms indicating the organization's focus and services offered, and a brief annotation. An institutional title listing and subject index that is based on the Thesaurus of ERIC Descriptors is also provided. The second half of the catalog provides examples of recently developed materials announced in two online databases, ERIC and Vocational Education Curriculum Materials (VECM). The materials have been selected to illustrate the kinds of resources available. Also provided are information sheets describing each database and explaining how to access each one to obtain curriculum materials for special needs students. A subject index to the ERIC and VECM materials is also included. (MN)
