Designed for faculty members at Beaufort Technical College (BTC) in South Carolina, this handbook describes the college's faculty evaluation process and procedures. The first sections of the handbook explain the rationale and method for the faculty evaluation process, state the purposes and objectives of the system, and offer a model which breaks the faculty role into teaching and instruction, student advisement, college service, community service, and professional development. Next, the five-point scale used to rate faculty performance in each area is presented. A calendar of events is followed by an explanation of the weighting system used in the evaluation; a chart displaying the percentages associated with each evaluation area; information on the peer appeals panel; and an explanation of the determination of overall ratings. The bulk of the handbook consists of appendices providing information and sample forms related to the Faculty Performance Management System, student evaluation of faculty, student evaluation of advisors, and the evaluation portfolio's contents.
