Statistics were collected to show the racial and ethnic distributions of public school students and staff for the 1985-86 school year in New York State. The tables include statistics on: (1) public school students; (2) Black and Hispanic public school students; (3) racial and ethnic origin of public school students between 1981 and 1986; (4) number and percent of minority students in schools of differing racial composition; (5) number and percent of Black students in schools of differing racial composition; (6) number and percent of Hispanic students in schools of differing racial composition; (7) racial and ethnic distribution of staff for the period 1985-86; (8) racial and ethnic distribution of professional staff for the period 1981-86; (9) racial and ethnic distribution of public school students according to school district; and (10) racial and ethnic distribution of professional staff according to school district.
