Study of the Teacher Preparation Programs of Tennessee Technological University. Report 86-2. Tennessee Technological University Teacher Evaluation Model--Year XIII.

A report is given of the results of the 13th evaluation study of graduates from Tennessee Technological University College of Education. The specific objective for the use of this longitudinal model was the evaluation and subsequent modification and improvement of the teacher education programs. The sample size by year of graduation was: 1983--16, 1984--19, and 1985--44. Detailed information was collected on each subject by use of standardized and locally developed instruments. The major findings of the study for the first year subjects were similar to those reported in the past 12 years. Comparisons between the B.S. and M.A. graduates indicated few significant differences; first year B.S. graduates appeared to be functioning at a level comparable to the M.A. graduates. Graduates in their second and third year of participation in the project appeared to be functioning at a higher level than first year graduates. Conclusions and recommendations were advanced from the results of the study that are being used to modify and improve the teacher education programs at the university.
