MCC Directs Its Future: Strategic Planning at Monroe Community College.
Osborn, Frances P.
A description is provided of the steps taken by Monroe Community College (MCC) between 1982 and 1986 to fulfill its current strategic planning process. Following an introduction and listing of strategic planning committee members, chapter 1 discusses what MCC hoped to accomplish through a formal planning process. Chapter 2 details the research, design, and connections phases of the planning effort, including a series of recommendations developed in January 1985 to reaffirm basic principles, rethink how those principles are to be achieved, and realign efforts and emphases to achieve goals. The immediate outcomes of the planning process are discussed in chapter 3, while chapters 4 and 5 detail the work of the strategic planning committees during school years 1985-1986 and 1986-1987, respectively, examining the work of the Process Committee, Internal Committee, External Committee, and conclusions each group reached. Finally, chapter 6 offers a brief summary of the impact of MCC's planning. A list of documents generated to assist in planning, a brief description of factors in Monroe County that affect MCC planning, and other relevant documents are appended. (LAL)
