Statistical Abstracts, Fall 1985--Official. Instructional Workload, Faculty, I&DR Costs. State University of New York [and] Fall 1985 Statistical Abstracts Supplement. Trends of Selected Indicators by Discipline Category, Fall 1975-Fall 1985.
State Univ. of New York, Albany. Central Staff Office of Institutional Research.
An intercampus summary of reports showing instructional workload and financial resources of academic departments of the State University of New York is presented for fall 1985. Included are statistical tables and graphs, along with a supplement covering trends of selected indicators by discipline for 1975-1985. Information for the 30 campuses is derived from the official Course and Section Analysis system. For specific colleges and categories of colleges, data are provided on cost factors for undergraduate and graduate courses (for all disciplines totaled and for 19 separate disciplines), including: student credit hours, class size, student/faculty ratio, full-time equivalent (FTE) faculty, FTE workload, salary per student credit hour, support costs, and instruction and departmental costs. The percentage distribution of weekly faculty and student contact for each college and college type is indicated for five types of instruction: class, laboratory, tutorial, independent, and programmed. Also covered is the percentage distribution of student credit hours by level of student (lower/upper division undergraduates and beginning/advanced graduate students). For each college, data are included on the total authorized FTE positions, both filled and vacant. Teaching activities that do/do not produce credit hours and state-funded teaching titles are covered. (SW)
