Leadership Development through Planned Instruction in Vocational Education.
Cvancara, Joseph G.; Weaver, Carol L.
This teaching guide was developed to assist teachers in implementing leadership development as an integral component in vocational education. The manual includes instructional materials and strategies that will assist students in using their classrooms as laboratories for acquiring and applying leadership skills. The manual includes four unit plans corresponding to four major program goals for preparing students for leadership roles that have been identified. These program goals are as follows: (1) the student is able to assume leadership roles at home, at school, on the job, and in the community; (2) the student is able to facilitate individual and group progress toward identified goals; (3) the student is able to disseminate and receive information through written and oral communication; and (4) the student is able to evaluate individual and group action. Each program goal is supported by enabling objectives, learning activities, resources, and evaluation techniques. Handouts, activity sheets, information sheets, case studies, and resource lists are provided. The guide includes lists of references and suggested films. (KC)
