PRIDE Resources Handbook.
Sterling, George A.
This handbook is intended as reference material for Ohio's PRIDE (Program Review for the Improvement, Development, Expansion of Vocational Education and Guidance) Vocational Education Planning Districts (VEPDs) coordinators, service representatives, and instructional chairpersons. It is divided into four content areas. The section on the PRIDE process and followup explains the legal mandate for PRIDE and the very basic PRIDE process within the VEPD/school district. It also discusses followup as an accountability tool and its various processes within the state to aid in the improvement of programming for youth and adults. The section on curriculum/instruction is divided into three topics: curriculum--course of study (development of the course of study using the Instructional System Design model and State Department of Education requirements), advisory committee (its role and involvement and effective uses), and academic alliance (correlation of vocational material into the academic program). A section on equity provides information on legislation requiring equal access and the special concerns of sex equity and handicapped equity. The final section on services describes the nine dimensions of a guidance program and discusses career development and sources of occupational and education information. (YLB)
