Enhancing Career Awareness for Gifted Students through Adolescent Literature.
Brittain, Mary M.; Whitlock, Gaynelle
This resource booklet on promoting career awareness and planning is intended especially for school counselors, English teachers, librarians, and other educators who work with gifted and talented adolescents. An introduction precedes a section that discusses strategies and approaches for integrating literature in adolescents' exploration of careers. Techniques are suggested that counselors and teachers can use in acquiring information about students' career interests, becoming familiar with career-related books for teenagers, and exploring careers in the school setting through literature. A sample unit on careers follows. Other guide contents include a 19-page careers bibliography for gifted adolescents and a brief listing of suggested references for educators working with gifted students. (YLB)
