This guide is intended for use in providing competency-based prevocational instruction in business and office occupations programs. Addressed in the individual units are the following topics: career awareness (career planning, decision making, and educational planning); personal assessment; the business and office cluster (bookkeeper, word processing operator, legal secretary, hotel/motel manager, personnel assistant, bank teller, and receptionist); human relations; office procedures (input, process, output, and distribution/communication) and office equipment (computer printers, copiers, and duplicating equipment); safety; and job success (job application, followup letters, employer expectations, techniques in finding and keeping a job, and time management). Each instructional unit includes the following basic components: objectives, notes to the instructor, information sheets, transparency masters, activity sheets, tests, and answers to the tests and activities.
