Grade 9 Social Studies: Student Achievement Testing Program Bulletin, 1986-87 School Year.
Alberta Dept. of Education, Edmonton.
The bulletin provides a general description of the Grade 9 Social Studies Achievement Test, an outline of the objectives to be tested, the test blueprint, test scoring procedures, and sample questions that demonstrate the nature and complexity of the test items. All test questions are drawn from the content of three prescribed topics: selected market economics, selected centrally planned economics, and industrialization in Canada. The objectives to be tested include knowledge and comprehension, inquiry skills, value concepts, and valuing skills. The test has two parts: Part A contains 60 multiple-choice questions and is worth 70% of the total test score; Part B consists of several questions requiring short written answers and a composition and is worth 30% of the total test score. Both parts of the test are based on common content area and value/knowledge/skill objectives. Twelve sample multiple-choice questions and five short-answer questions and a composition question are provided, along with scoring criteria. (TRS)
