Public Goods and Services.
Zicht, Barbara, Ed.; And Others
Elementary Economist, v3 n3 1981-82
This document includes an introduction to the role of government in the production of public goods and services and 3 brief teaching units. The introduction describes the nature of a mixed economy and points out why most people identify the production of goods and services with private enterprise rather than government. It develops a rationale for public goods and services. The unit, "Let's Go Public," is designed for kindergarten through second grade level. It provides 8 activities which help young children realize their own use of government goods and services and creates an understanding of the purpose of taxes. The third and fourth, and fifth and sixth grade units provide a variety of games and activities designed to develop a better understanding of the role of government and the services funded by taxes.
