How Many Kentuckians: Population Forecasts, 1980-2020. The 1986 Edition.
Price, Michael
A Kentucky population projection presents 1980 census counts and projections for 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2010, and 2020 for the state, its 15 area development districts, and its 120 counties. Populations are broken down by gender and 5-year age groups through 85 years and over, with age summaries for 0-18 years, 19-64 years, and 65 years and over. A cohort-component model is used to project household population and group quarters population aged 65 years and over in each county; group quarters population aged under 65 years is held constant from the base year and added to the population projected by the model to obtain total projected population. Forecasts take into account the demographic impacts expected to result from a Toyota Corporation automobile manufacturing plant under construction in a low-growth rural area. Assumptions from which the impacts of plant construction were devised are described in the methodology section of the report. Projected survival rates, total and age-specific fertility rates, and net migration rates are provided in the methodology section. (LFL)
