A reference guide to laws, rules, and regulations that govern nursing practice in New York State is presented. In addition to identifying requirements/procedures for obtaining licensure and first registration as a licensed practical nurse and registered professional nurse, general provisions of Title VIII of the Education Law are covered, along with state management, professional misconduct, and unauthorized acts. Regulations of the Commissioner of Education are also provided, along with an application form for license and first registration, a certification form of nursing education, a certification form of licensure or licensing examination results, a certification form of professional experience, and an application for limited permit. A list by state region and counties is provided of programs of professional nursing registered by the state education department, including those of the following types: associate, baccalaureate, master's, doctoral, diploma, and nurse practitioner. Included are the college's address, and the name and phone number of the program director. For programs at the master's and doctoral levels, information is also provided on degrees/certification awarded, concentrations, and functional areas covered in the curricula. (SW)
