Recruitment. Review of Research: Part III.
Guay, Roland B.
This document contains a compendium of research on the recruitment of college-educated personnel. The objectives of this publication are to help individuals involved in recruitment learn the research findings of studies conducted in the field and to provide guidance to researchers in the field regarding areas needing study. The introduction explains the organization of this publication and is followed by: (1) an outline of the recruitment topics covered by this summary of research; (2) an index of topics from the outline; (3) an overall summary of the findings reported in the research abstracts; and (4) a brief discussion of areas in the field that appear to need additional research. The majority of this publication consists of 78 one-page research abstracts arranged alphabetically by author. Each abstract summarizes a different study conducted in the field. For each abstract, the title of the study, author, and publication source are listed. The remainder of the abstract briefly summarizes the problem, methodology, and major results of the study. The studies abstracted in this publication were conducted either to identify impressions and preferences regarding recruiters and recruitment practices; investigate the nature of the process used by job seekers to evaluate potential employers and jobs, determine the relative importance of various factors considered by job seekers in evaluating employers and jobs; or examine the influence of various factors on employment decisions of job seekers. While studies published through July 1983 are included in this review, plans to periodically update this publication are discussed. (NB)
