School Nursing in Wisconsin: A Report of the Ad Hoc School Nursing Study Committee. Bulletin No. 6424.
Wisconsin State Dept. of Public Instruction, Madison.
This report contains materials developed by a committee appointed to review school nursing in Wisconsin; to make recommendations directed at the future mission, objectives, and functions of school nursing; and to address the relationship of school nursing certification to these recommendations. Recommendations made to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction address certification standards for the practice of nursing in the school setting and the structure of health services, as well as needed legislation and appropriation of resources. An overview is provided of the needs in school health. Statements of the mission of school health and the objectives and functions of school nursing follow. An overview provides a general outline of the issues that need to be addressed in a plan to meet basic school health service needs and exemplary school health services. An outline is also presented of services needed to meet the health needs of school-age children and youth. Appendixes, amounting to approximately one-half of the report, include an outline of school health issues in Wisconsin, statutory references and certification requirements relating to school nursing, and Federal regulations relating to school health services.
