Taking Advantage of Media. A Manual for Parents and Teachers.
Brown, Laurene Krasny
The intent of this book is to help a parent or teacher make informed decisions about which medium (book, television, computer game, film) to select, how to present these materials to children, and how to evaluate the effectiveness of the medium. This book equips the reader to answer three basic questions: (1) What is distinctive about story telling in each medium? (2) What are children of different ages likely to learn, enjoy or misunderstand in each case? and, (3) How can one help children to get more out of these different story experiences? Practical exercises at the ends of each chapter are provided. (JD)
