Multicultural Education in a Pluralistic Society. Second Edition.
Gollnick, Donna M.; Chinn, Philip C.
This book provides an overview of the different microcultures to which students belong. The first chapter examines the pervasive influence of culture and the importance of understanding personal cultural background and experiences as well as those of the students. The following seven chapters examine the microcultures of socioeconomic status, ethnicity, religion, language, sex and gender, exceptionality, and age. The final chapter describes how the educator can portray and use this pluralism in the implementation of multicultural education. (JD)
