These procedures included: (1) memoranda announcing programs; (2) project documents; (3) course schedules; (4) interviews with program directors; (5) trainee reaction forms; (6) follow-up participant questionnaires; (7) curriculum evaluation forms from teachers who piloted science curricula; and (8) observations by Office of Educational Assessment staff on mathematics staff development course sessions and satellite center workshops. Chapter 2 offers an overview of training programs in science, mathematics, and computer science. For the science component, the objectives and orientation of the staff training workshops and in-service courses are explained. For mathematics, the workshops for seventh and eighth grade teachers and supervisors are described as well as the use of training centers. Computer science programs emphasized development of new curricula, computer literacy education, use of technical assistance centers, and review of software programs.
