Guide to Campus-Business Linkage Programs. Education and Business Prospering Together. Second Edition.
Fenwick, Dorothy C.; And Others
Ways to develop, implement, and maintain linkages between colleges and business are discussed, and a directory of campus-business linkages is presented. Phases of campus-business linkages are covered in seven chapters. The predevelopment phase consists of developing a rationale, obtaining the support of the higher education institution, and assessing the needs of the marketplace. The development phase consists of activities and decision-making processes, including program construction, curriculum development, program implementation, and program evaluation. The postdevelopment phase of campus-business linkages consists of planning followup activities for ongoing linkage programs, acquiring institutional commitment to the concept of campus-business linkages, and promoting campus-business linkages in the market place. A 12-step implementation checklist is included. The directory, which covers more than 300 programs from a wide range of institutions, includes the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of both higher education and business contact persons, and covers program content, entrance requirements, instructional materials, location and size of program, and the cost of the program shared by each sponsor. Included are subject, institution, and geographic indexes. (SW)
