Promoting Entrepreneurship Education in Vocational Education: A Final Report Prepared for a Project to Promote Economic Development through Entrepreneurship Education and Training.
Miller, Melvin D.; Wimberley, Dianne
A 2-year contract was awarded to the Oklahoma State University College of Education, Department of Occupational and Adult Education, for the purpose of conducting a project promoting entrepreneurship education. The primary objectives of the project were to: assist vocational educators and Minority Business Development Center (MBDC) representatives in developing, improving, and expanding entrepreneurial education in their programs; promote the concept of entrepreneurial education in vocational education at both the secondary and postsecondary levels; increase coordination with the MBDC network service providers; develop and disseminate entrepreneurial education packages for use by vocational educators and MBDCs; and foster a continuing dialogue among representatives of vocational institutions, MBDCs, and other interested groups in order to assist in developing a coordinated plan for comprehensive entrepreneurial education. The major accomplishments of the project included a national awareness conference held in Washington, D.C., in January 1983, a series of 21 local entrepreneurship seminars held nationwide, a resource notebook that was developed to assist vocational educators and MBDCs, and an implementation guide designed to provide assistance to individuals wishing to replicate the local entrepreneurship seminars. (Appendixes to this report include the agenda of the national awareness conference, a list of local site coordinators, and selected plans of action.) (MN)
