Handbook for Conducting an Elementary Program Review.
California State Dept. of Education, Sacramento.
To be used in conjunction with a document providing evaluation criteria for quality elementary school programs, this guide is designed to help members of a program review team conduct a program review. The first chapter describes the methodology and procedures of program review, the application of quality criteria to the school's curricular and instructional program, and the means by which suggestions for increasing the effectiveness of the instructional program might be developed. The second chapter describes the quality criteria and contains cautions for reviewers about the application of the criteria to the school program. The final chapter describes how the transaction between the review team and the school results in a design for improving the program offered to the students. (Appendices contain the quality criteria and a guide for schools conducting a self-study.) (HOD)
