Annual Enrollment, Auditing, Nonstandard Instruction and Credit-Awarding Activities in Arkansas Institutions of Higher Education. Report 83-1.
Davoren, Donna Christian
Data on full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment, student semester credit hour (SSCH) production trends, and nontraditional instruction are presented for Arkansas colleges and universities. FTE enrollment is reported for each two- and four-year state institution, including trends for 1973-1983. Data are reported on SSCH production program area and four levels of study, 1978-1983, and separately for the education field and for six occupational fields. For both state-supported and private two- and four-year institutions, data are provided on 1982-1983 SSCH for nontraditional activities (i.e., auditing classes, high school/college cooperative enrollment, instruction through various alternative media/modes, credit-awarding activities, and off-campus enrollment). In reporting SSCH production, the Classification of Instructional Programs has been used since 1982-1983. Findings include: FTE enrollment rose to 55,183 during 1982-1983; two-year institutions' FTE enrollment was up 6.2% over the previous year, compared to an increase of 1.4% for the four-year schools; undergraduate SSCH was up 22.9% over the 5-year period since 1978-1979, while graduate SSCH production was down 8.9% over the same period.
