Wages and Salaries Paid Support Personnel in Public Schools, 1985-86. Part 3 of National Survey of Salaries and Wages in Public Schools. ERS Report.
Educational Research Service, Arlington, VA.
This report looks at the 1985-86 contract salaries of superintendents and at salary data reported for each of the other professional positions by 1,104 public school systems surveyed in the fall of 1985. The number of persons employed in each category is also shown. Twenty-five summary tables show salary distributions, means, medians, and the ranges of average, lowest, and highest salaries paid by reporting school systems to personnel in selected positions; three tables compare 1985-86 data with those collected in 1984-85 and relate salary levels paid for various professional positions to those of classroom teachers. Other tables report summary data on the average daily amount paid to personnel in selected positions, the number of responding school systems employing personnel in each category, and the total number of persons reported. Summary data are presented according to enrollment size of the school system, the per pupil expenditure for current operations, and the geographic region in which the school system is located. Tables reflect a summarization of the data reported by the school systems composing the panel; no attempt has been made to obtain national statistics for categories of personnel listed. (GJ)
