Jump into Writing: A Writing Curriculum for Grades K-12--Expressive Discourse.
Bennett, Susan G., Ed.
Created as one part of a comprehensive curriculum for teaching writing from kindergarten through twelfth grade, this guide focuses on expressive writing. Following an introduction describing the goals of the writing project, the preface points out that the guide is based on the comprehensive model of James Kinneavy's "A Theory of Discourse, Aims and Audiences in Writing" and "Writing--Basic Modes of Organization." The guide is divided into two sections: a matrix of suggested activities in each of the four modes for expressive writing (description, narration, evaluation, and classification); and expanded lessons at each grade level, from kindergarten through twelfth grade. A selected bibliography concludes the guide. (EL)
