Chavkin, Nancy F.; Williams, David L., Jr.
In order to build more effective partnerships between home/community and the public school, the Parent Involvement in Education Project (PIEP) conducted a comprehensive six-year study of the various aspects of parent involvement in education from the perspective of key stakeholder groups. This executive summary of the final report represents a synopsis of the Project, highlighting the most basic components and findings of a parent survey conducted in New Orleans, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston. Areas covered in the executive summary are as follows: introduction; operational definitions; background; method; results; major recommendations (including specific recommendations for administrators, teacher educators, parents, teachers, and principals); and selected references.
