Fourth Annual Equal Postsecondary Educational Opportunity Status Report for the Period September 1983-September 1984.

The 1983-1984 report on the postsecondary desegregation progress in Maryland is presented. The goals of the 1980 plan, the status of attainment of the goals, and recommended corrective action are indicated. The goals concern the following areas: undergraduate accessibility; graduate/first professional accessibility; enrollment in fields where blacks are underrepresented; undergraduate retention; student financial aid; the employment of administrators, faculty, and professional employees; enhancement of historically black institutions; governing boards; and evaluation and implementation. For nine state institutions, a chart provides information on goals and recommendations, current activities, and proposed activities. For the state as a whole, data are presented on enrollments, degrees granted, employment, and governing boards. Enrollment data are provided for 1979, 1980, and 1984 and for the enrollment of black students in the state's 31 public postsecondary institutions. Degrees awarded by field and the proportion of black students are reported for 1979-1980 and 1983-1984. Employment data are provided for 1979 and 1984. Appended is a copy of the Equal Educational Opportunity Annual Institutional Report, which is completed by each campus. (SW)
