This guide is intended to assist teachers organizing and presenting a course in data processing for secondary school students. Addressed in the individual sections of the guide are the following: the philosophy, purpose, and objectives of the course; admissions and recruitment; occupational information; employability skills; tasks addressed in the data processing curriculum; curriculum structure and content; facilities; special needs; and instructional management. The section on curriculum content includes a series of unit guides, each of which contains some or all of the following: a task or unit competency, a performance statement, suggested instructional activities, recommended instructional materials, estimated minimum times for completing instructional activities and evaluations; and evaluation criteria and activities. The section on instructional management information includes information on criterion-referenced testing and Georgia performance standards for graduation. A glossary concludes the guide. (MN)
