Guidebook for Industrial Technology Teacher Preparation Field Experience.

This handbook is intended to assist in the assessment and refinement of teacher preparation for industrial technology education in Texas. The first section contains preliminary information on the significance, development, and use of the guidebook. Provided next is an industrial technology teacher preparation assessment instrument that is based on a national survey of model or exemplary industrial technology teacher preparation programs. The next section contains a second industrial teacher preparation assessment instrument, which was developed for a three-round Delphi study. The fourth and final section consists of suggested recommendations for program improvement that were written with the following considerations in mind: essential elements, special needs students, equal access, and appropriate computer applications. Extensive appendixes include an instrument for assessing model field experience programs, survey results of model industrial technology field experience programs, statements characterizing a model industrial technology field experience, essential elements for introductory industrial technology courses at different levels, and membership lists of various panels and committees connected with developing the materials and methods used in the guidebook.
