This document contains validated activities and competencies needed by librarians working in a database producer organization. The activities and competencies are organized according to the functions which these librarians perform: acquisitions; thesaurus development and control; indexing/abstracting; and publications and product management. Within each function, competencies are grouped under the categories of Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes, and three professional levels are dealt with: entry level (0-3 years experience), mid-level (4-9 years experience), and senior level (10 or more years experience).
