A Pilot Study of the Use of the Assess Test to Predict Success on the National Council Licensure Examination.
Wisenbaker, Sue; Lee, Mickey M.
The purpose of this study was to determine if a significant relationship existed between nursing students' scores on the Mosby Assess Test and the students' scores on the National Council Licensure Examination. The subjects consisted of 172 nursing students in their last semester of the Associate Degree Nursing program at the Eastern Kentucky University during 1982, 1983, and 1984. The analysis consisted of bivariate correlation using pearson product moment correlation as the technique. The results indicate that a strong positive correlation between the Assess Test scores and the scores on the National Council Licensure Examination was evident. These findings imply that the Assess Test scores can be used to successfully aid nursing students in preparing for state boards. Implications of these findings on preparing nursing students to pass the National Council Licensure Examination are discussed. (Author/LMO)
