Come Fly with Me! Exploring Science 7-9 through Aviation/Aerospace Concepts.

This guide contains 67 activities dealing with various aerospace/aviation education concepts. The activities are presented in units related to physical science, earth science, and life science. In addition, there is a section related to student involvement in the space shuttle programs. The physical science unit (activities 1-23) focuses on the forces and basic principles of flight and the structure of planes and rockets. The earth science unit (activities 24-44) deals with the solar system, satellites, space probes and other topics. The life science unit (activities 45-67) focuses on the human body in space. Each activity includes information on the subject area, grade level, group size, time required, teaching strategy, type of activity, concept(s) fostered, and skills fostered. Each activity also contains objective(s), materials needed, teacher background information, instructional strategies, suggested extension activities, and a code corresponding to resources found in the appendix. Resources include films, books, and additional materials organized by topic areas. Other appendices contain lists of computer software, addresses of agencies supplying media, lists of Michigan resource centers and resource persons, a glossary, and indexes of science concepts and skills by lesson.
