Staff Evaluation: Commitment to Excellence.
This booklet describes the four major components of the staff evaluation plan currently practiced at the Mitchell Wolfson New World Center Campus of Miami-Dade Community College. First, introductory material indicates that the essential elements of the plan include a concern for staff development, improvement, and accountability, as well as the need to provide information for decisions on promotion, reappointment, and salary. Next, the four evaluation components are explained: (1) appraisal of full- and part-time faculty, which involves mutual goal setting, classroom visitations, student evaluations, and annual collegewide performance evaluations; (2) evaluation of non-teaching faculty and professional personnel, which involves an annual evaluation by the immediate supervisor; (3) evaluation of classified and staff personnel based on growth and development, improved work performance, and enhanced rapport between supervisor and employee; and (4) evaluation of campus administrators, which involves peer evaluation and climate surveys. Evaluation forms and a bibliography are included. (LAL)
