Evaluation of the CAPE and CORE Programs for Sensory-Impaired Multi-Handicapped Children in the Province of Alberta. Final Report.
Rutland Consulting Group Ltd.
The report presents summaries of evaluations of the Coordinated Assessment and Program Planning for Education (CAPE) Program and the Coordinated Rehabilitation and Education (CORE) program for multi-handicapped sensory impaired and/or communication and behavior disordered children and their families in Alberta, Canada. Each program is evaluated separately, with detailed analyses of specific components for various handicap groups. Recommendations emphasize the need to increase public awareness about CORE/CAPE services, clarify eligibility criteria, expand eligibility criteria in outreach areas due to the small catchment population, and increase family involvement during assessments and consultations. Sample evaluation questionnaires are appended. (CL)
