Separate Minimum Standards for Moderately, Severely, and Profoundly Handicapped Students. Bulletin 1705.
Louisiana State Dept. of Education, Baton Rouge. Div. of Special Education.
To help Louisiana school systems meet state competency based education mandates, the manual presents lists of skills for those moderately, severely, and profoundly handicapped students who are receiving an alternative to a regular placement instructional program and are addressing separate minimum standards. The sequential lists are provided in the following curriculum areas: motor, cognitive, communication, activities of daily living, social, prevocational and vocational, and leisure. Skills are given codes according to curricular skill area, skill subsections, and specific skill objectives. An introductory section presents instructions on how to complete the skills lists, which indicate when each skill was introduced and when it was mastered. It also discusses issues in developing alternative standards. The minimal standards are not intended to be a curriculum or an assessment instrument. (CL)
